ShoutBox + Introduce Yourself for new people - Skype for the people we already know + no need to continuously PM each other and asking to check them, just start another private chat with that group and you're done. Let's be honest here, there's literally only a dozen or so people that regularly chat to each other, the shoutbox is the only thing keeping us in this forum, if not, we'd move back to the GTAF thread. If we were to go to a route that lets us communicate better, Skype would the next stepping stone. Chatzy is just half a step, and when we inevitably decide that Chatzy is not what we want to use in the long term, it's another move that's going to get users confused. Let's keep things simple instead of over complicating things and creating a mess that will only turn users away. 1. Close the GTA:F Thread -> Link to this forum for anything relating our crew on the GTAF Forums - This move will not only free us from the GTAF Moderators - It will bring more traffic to our forums 2. This forum will be used for introductions with new members, general chitchat threads and the private section for mods and glitches 3. Shoutbox should be changed to a notice board instead (For example - "M0DIFI3D HIGH LIFE MEET - 24 MAY 2014 - 7AM PST" - and when you click the words written there, it would link you to the specific thread) 4. Move to Skype for our more useless shit, like talking and laughing - this would bring us closer since it would provide an easier platform to communicate within our dozen or so talkative members - I could start a conference call with Fap + Surface without being near my xbox and just for general talk - other members can do the same - while providing ourselves with privacy in regards to new members being able to snoop and read our chat - we could provide a more streamlined way to discuss issues without having to resort to constantly PM'ing each other - we could actually talk to each other instead of using the horrendous XBL Party system - we can communicate with PS3 members. 1. The GTAForums thread is the reason why MODified is so well-known and has a high reputation, putting us on the map. Closing it would be an awful idea as it is basically effective advertisement for the crew now, hence why even the GTAForums virtual magazine has us featured in the gang section. Completely removing our status on GTAForums would reduce the amount of traffic this forum gets... This was out of the GTAForums magazine. They even had MODified on the cover of one issue. Just giving an example of how our presence on GTAF is what gives us our popularity, just like Queens of the Damned and other crews.  3. I'm not sure if the shoutbox could be converted to something like that. Perceus would have to let us know since he knows the forum's configuration. 4. I don't see how Skype is a good option unless you really just want to have a private conversation with another member just like you said, substituting PMs if you'd like. Chatzy is open to all people here and is more effective than the shoutbox, and easily accessible to anyone curious can just jump on after they've signed up for the forum, just like in the shoutbox. The group PM system on here is enough, IMO, so I really don't see Skype being worth it, unless you want to go ahead and use it yourself with other members. Basically, it wouldn't be a good substitute for the shoutbox/chatzy. |

I don't know about closing the GTAF thread. Once it's closed and the thread gets buried, that's when the traffic stops, and all we have that remains is what we currently have. The shoutbox could be used for that purpose, yes, but I don't know how many would act towards a decision like that. For IMing, Skype would seem like the best suggestion, but some may not want to register for Skype. I didn't want to for the longest time, although I eventually caved in. |

I miss using that thread, still have it bookmarked on the start up pages. Would be nice to utilize the thread somehow to keep our presence on GTAF strong |

I don't think we should close the GTAF page, like Perseus says, is free advertising for the crew. Shoutbox is good for some stuff, chatty is even better but is a hassle coz we now have two similar types of chat system and two forums to communicate on. I really think the best solution is to just use a central thread on this forum, like we had on the GTAF page. It needs to be more prominent on the page and not buried amongst the rest of the links. Shoutbox is very convenient but this main thread, which we have is never gonna take off if everyone is on the chat systems. Important stuff should be reposted in other parts of the forums but who knows if it is coz its hard to check the history and see whats been posted and what hasn't. The gang chat page and the other threads we had were great at the time and worked well for everyone. Would be a solution which fits most of our needs. Why can we just do that?

I did like using the GTAF page due to how active it was (we were doing 10 pages a day), but it didn't work well as people without mics you didn't know what they were saying when you were in-game with them - especially if they are hosting a meet; how are you meant to know what's going on next if they don't have a mic? The thread was mainly Xbox too, PS3 players didn't really have much to say. The Shoutbox fixed this problem, but also caused the thread to die down... a lot.
If this is the case and we do move back to the thread in some way and the Shoutbox is removed, then I guess myself, Exqlusive and Surface (and other members too -- I'm looking at you PS3 players) will make a Skype call so we can still talk to each other about random crap without having to be on the Xbox or PS3.

I may want to use the shout box for announcements, as suggested before, and have everything involving crew chat in the crew forum. And, if members want to, they can privately IM other members.
