may be worth trying out myself. My local Craigslist has plenty of old Xbox consoles for 50-60 bucks a piece.

Still cheaper than buying a pre-JTAG'd console. Good luck finding a console on dash 2.0.7371.0 or lower. Also, the menu will be obsolete with the next update, but I've looked into it, and it looks like it can be easily updated. And it uses scripts and is loaded by a hook in the TU, so basically it can never be patched.
